SOUTHERN UTAH UNIVERSITY

Cedar City, Utah is home to Southern Utah University (also known as SUU), a public institution of higher education. Southern Utah University initially opened its doors in 1897 as a normal school. Today, the university's six colleges award bachelor's degrees and graduate degrees to more than 1,800 students annually. More than 140 undergraduate degrees and 19 graduate programmes are available to students at SUU. SUU is home to more than 10,000 active students. The collective name for Southern Utah University's seventeen athletic teams that participate in Division I of the NCAA is the Thunderbirds. In September of 2012, Southern Utah University became a member of the Big Sky Conference. The Utah Summer Games will be held at Southern Utah University, which will also host the games.
