Leeds Beckett University is a public university in Leeds, West Yorkshire, England. It has campuses in the city centre and Headingley. The university was founded in 1824 as Leeds Mechanics' Institute and later became Leeds Polytechnic in 1970. It was renamed Leeds Metropolitan University in 1992 and Leeds Beckett University in 2012.
