Purdue University and the University of Indiana Indiana Institution–Purdue University–Fort Wayne (IPFW) was a public university located in Fort Wayne, Indiana. The Indiana University of Pennsylvania at Fort Wayne (IPFW) was established in 1964 as a regional campus that was jointly operated by the Indiana University and the Purdue University university systems. In 2014, the Institute of Professional and Continuing Education at Fort Wayne (IPFW) reached an all-time high enrollment of 13,459 undergraduate and postgraduate students enrolled in nine colleges and schools, one of which was a branch of the Indiana University School of Medicine. IPFW had a total enrollment of 10,414 students for the 2017–2018 school year, which was its most recent academic year. Through partnerships with Indiana University and Purdue University, IPFW provided access to more than 200 graduate and undergraduate degree programmes. All 14 of the university's sporting teams, including men's and women's, participated in Division I of the NCAA Summit League competition. The two colleges ended their relationship with each other in Fort Wayne on July 1st, 2018. The academic departments that dealt with health care became part of the Indiana University Fort Wayne campus, while the other departments became part of the Purdue University Fort Wayne campus (PFW). Around two weeks before the split was finalised, the sports programme, which was fully adopted by PFW, changed its branding from Fort Wayne Mastodons to Purdue Fort Wayne Mastodons. Previously, they were known as the Fort Wayne Mastodons.
