Central Connecticut State University is a public university located in New Britain, Connecticut, in the United States. It is also known as Central Connecticut University, Central Connecticut, CCSU,[5] Central Connecticut State, or simply Central. Originally established in 1849 as the State Normal School, Central Connecticut State University (CCSU) is the oldest university in Connecticut that is supported by public funds. The Ammon College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences, the School of Business, the School of Education and Professional Studies, and the School of Engineering, Science, and Technology are the four schools that make up this institution. As of the beginning of the Spring semester in 2022, there are a total of 8,898 students enrolled at the university, with 7,054 of them being undergraduates and 1,844 of them being graduate students. More than half of the students live off campus, and nearly all of them are locals to the state of Connecticut. The Connecticut State Colleges and Universities system (CSCU), which also oversees the Eastern, Western, and Southern Connecticut State Universities, includes this institution as one of its constituent schools. As of the Spring of 2022, the total number of students enrolled at both of these institutions is 25,774.
