In Boulder, Colorado, there is a public research institution known as the University of Colorado Boulder (CU Boulder,[9] CU, or Colorado). It is the flagship institution of the University of Colorado system and was established in 1876, five months before Colorado was admitted as a state. Ten Olympic medalists were produced by the university. Every year, over 1,000 students compete in over 34 intercollegiate club sports.
