ABOUT UNIVERSITY OF BATH
"The University of Bath is a public research institution that can be found in the city of Bath in the county of Somerset in the United Kingdom. Following the publication of the Robbins Report in 1966, it and a number of other institutions were granted royal charters that same year. In the same way as the University of Bristol and the University of the West of England, the University of Bath can trace its origins back to the Merchant Venturers' Technical College, which was founded in Bristol in the year 1595 as a school by the Society of Merchant Venturers. The primary campus of the university can be found on Claverton Down, a site that looks out over the city of Bath. This campus was purpose-built, beginning construction in 1964 in the modernist style that was popular at the time.
32% of Bath's submitted research activity received the highest possible classification of 4* in the 2014 Research Excellence Framework. This classification is awarded to research that is regarded as world-leading in terms of its originality, significance, and rigour. 87% received the highest possible grade of 4*/3*, which is considered to be world-leading or internationally excellent. The institution had an annual income of £289.5 million for the fiscal year 2020–21, with £37.2 million coming from research grants and contracts. The institution's expenses totaled £320.7 million during that same time period.
