Fayetteville, Arkansas is home to the public land-grant research institution known as the University of Arkansas (often abbreviated as UA, UArk, or UA). The University of Arkansas at Fayetteville is the state's largest educational institution and serves as the system's flagship campus. Classes were initially held for the first time on January 22, 1872, and the university officially changed its name to what it is now in 1899. Arkansas Industrial University was established in 1871. It is well known for the exceptional programmes that it offers in the fields of architecture, agriculture (especially animal science and poultry science), communication disorders, creative writing, history, law (especially agricultural law), and Middle Eastern studies. Additionally, it is renowned for its business school, the supply chain management programme of which was ranked the best in North America by Gartner in July of 2020. The University of Arkansas was rated thirteenth on the list of institutions with the most graduates employed by top Fortune 500 businesses, according to a report that was compiled by DegreeChoices and published by Forbes in 2021.
