ABOUT RADBOUD UNIVERSITY
In Nijmegen, the Netherlands, there is a public research university called Radboud University. The institution is named after Saint Radboud, a 9th-century Dutch bishop renowned for his intelligence and assistance to the poor. Since its founding in 1923, Radboud University has constantly been ranked among the top 150 universities worldwide by four influential directories. In the Shanghai Academic Ranking of World Universities as of 2020, it is ranked 105th. RU is well-known throughout the world for its impressive research output. 8.396 scientific articles were published in 2020, and 391 PhDs were granted. In 2016, Radboud University joined the Guild of European Research-Intensive Universities to support the global flow of scholarly knowledge. Twelve Spinoza Prize winners and one Nobel Prize winner, Sir Konstantin Novoselov, the discoverer of graphene, are among the alumni of Radboud University. Other notable graduates include Dries van Agt, a former Dutch prime minister, Marijn Emmanuel Dekkers, a prominent priest and theologian, Henri Nouwen, and Frans Timmermans, the first vice-president of the European Commission. Three Olympic medals have been earned by former students since 2000.
