1.In Irvine, California, the Institution of California, Irvine (UCI or UC Irvine) is a public land- grant research university. UCI is one of the ten campuses of the University of California system, and it offers 87 undergraduate degrees as well as 129 graduate and professional degrees. As of Fall 2019, UCI has approximately 30,000 undergraduates and 6,000 graduate students enrolled. The university is categorised as "R1: Doctoral Universities – Very High Research Activity," with research and development expenditures of $436.6 million in 2018. The Association of American Universities accepted UCI as a member in 1996. In 1985 and 2001 polls comparing publicly funded colleges that the authors said provide an education similar to the Ivy League, the university was regarded as one of the "Public Ivies." 2.The UC Irvine Medical Center, a prominent teaching hospital in Orange, and its linked health sciences system are also managed by the university, as are the University of California, Irvine Arboretum and a section of the University of California Natural Reserve System. The first Earth System Science Department in the United States was established at UC Irvine. 3.As of January 2022, the university's alumni, faculty, and researchers included 6 MacArthur "Genius Grant" recipients, 8 Nobel Laureates, 7 Pulitzer Prize winners, 37 Guggenheim Fellows, and 1 Turing Award winner.
