STOKE COLLEGE

Before being purchased by Miss Elliot and Miss McLoad, who had previously served as senior lecturers and teacher-training programme directors at Bingley College in Yorkshire, it had been housed for a while in the structure known as "The Norfolks." They shared the role of principal. Because of how well this school did, it quickly outgrew its space and needed to be moved. The previously abandoned home of the Loch family turned out to be perfect, and the school relocated in 1954. Miss Elliot retired in 1969, and Martin Gedney took over as Stoke College's first Headmaster.
