Southern Cross University works with Papua New Guinea and China to offer degrees. In 1995, there were about 95 students from other countries. They have come up with three major programmes so far. These are Sustain Food, Sustain Transport, and Sustain Energy. Steven Layt, an experienced president and chief executive officer, Lachlan Humphries, a sports filmmaker and creative director at Clean Line Productions, and Tanietta de Launey, a Native Title Cultural Heritage Liaison Officer, are all notable alumni.
