North Adams, Massachusetts is home to the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts (often known as MCLA), which is a public liberal arts college. It is a constituent university of the Massachusetts State University System. It is a public liberal arts college and participates in the Council of Public Liberal Arts Colleges. It was originally founded as a component of the state's normal school system for the purpose of training teachers; nevertheless, it currently provides a wide variety of programmes leading to the degrees of Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Arts, in addition to a course leading to a Master of Education.
