COLLEGE OF LAKE COUNTY

In Lake County, Illinois, there is a public community college called The College of Lake County, or CLC for short. The main campus of CLC is in Grayslake, and there are two more campuses in the surrounding communities of Waukegan and Vernon Hills. It is around 46 miles north of the city and part of the wider Chicago metro area. A vote establishing the CLC community college district was approved in 1967, and classes commenced in 1969. In transfer programmes, career programmes, GED and adult basic education, non-credit and career development, and training for employers, it enrols roughly 15,000 students.
