ABOUT LAWRENCE TECHNOLOGICAL UNIVERSITY
A private institution in Southfield, Michigan is called Lawrence Technological University (LTU) or Lawrence Tech. Russell E. Lawrence established it as the Lawrence Institute of Technology (LIT) in Highland Park, Michigan, in 1932. In 1955, the institution relocated to Southfield, and since then it has grown to 107 acres (0.43 km2). The Detroit Center for Design + Technology in Midtown Detroit and the Affleck House in Bloomfield Hills, both built by Frank Lloyd Wright, are both on the campus. Through its four colleges—Architecture and Design, Arts and Sciences, Business and Information Technology, and Engineering—the university offers undergraduate, masters-level, and doctoral degrees in the subjects of science, technology, engineering, architecture, and design, as well as mathematics. The Blue Devils are LTU's athletic teams. They joined the Wolverine Hoosier Athletic Conference in 2012 and participate in the NAIA.
