ABOUT UNIVERSITY OF ARKANSAS AT LITTLE ROCK
Little Rock, Arkansas is home to a public institution of higher education known as the University of Arkansas at Little Rock (UA Little Rock). The Little Rock School District founded the institution that is now known as Little Rock University in 1927 as Little Rock Junior College. In 1957, the school transitioned into a private, four-year university and adopted the name Little Rock University. It regained its status as a public institution in 1969 when, under its current name, it completed its merger with the University of Arkansas System. Philander Smith College has moved their campus to the location that was once occupied by Little Rock Junior College in 2019. The University of Arkansas at Little Rock has a campus that is situated on a land area of 250 acres (100 ha) and contains more than 56 buildings, some of which are the Sequoyah Research Center, the Emerging Analytics Center, the Ottenheimer Library, and the Center for Nanotechnology Integrative Sciences. In addition, the University of Arkansas at Little Rock is home to specialised educational facilities such as a learning resource centre, art galleries, KUAR public radio station, University Television, and a wireless network that spans the entirety of the campus. It is categorised as an R2 university, which stands for "Doctoral Universities - High Research Activity.
