ABOUT INDIANA UNIVERSITY AT BLOOMINGTON
Indiana University Bloomington is a public research university located in Bloomington, Indiana. It is also referred to as IU Bloomington, IU, or simply Indiana. It is the most prominent campus of Indiana University and also the campus with the most students, with over 40,000 registered there. The Association of American Universities recognises Indiana University as one of its "R1: Doctoral Universities – Very high research activity" institutions. Indiana University is a member of the AAU. It is home to a plethora of educational institutions and programmes, such as the Jacobs School of Music, the Luddy School of Informatics, the School of Optometry, Computing, and Engineering, the School of Public Health, the School of Nursing, the O'Neill School of Public and Environmental Affairs, the Kelley School of Business, the School of Education, the Media School, the Maurer School of Law, and the Hamilton Lugar School of Global and International Studies. Some of these schools and programmes are listed below Indiana University had 43,710 students enrolled as of the fall 2017 semester. Although students from Indiana made up 55.1% of the total student body, there were also students enrolled from the other 49 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and 165 different countries. As of the year 2018, the average score on the ACT is 28 and the average score on the SAT is 1276. More than 750 student organisations are active on the university's campus, and approximately 17 percent of undergraduate students are members of the Greek system. The university is home to an extensive student life programme. The Indiana Hoosiers are the name of the athletic teams that compete in Division I of the NCAA and represent the state of Indiana. Since the university does not have a mascot, all of its athletic teams are referred to collectively as "Hoosiers." The university is a member of the Big Ten Conference. There are a total of nine Nobel laureates, 19 Rhodes Scholars, 17 Marshall Scholars, and five MacArthur Fellows among the faculty, staff, and alumni of the University of Indiana. In addition, students and graduates of this institution have taken home a total of 95 Olympic medals, 20 Pulitzer Prizes, four Tony Awards, 49 Grammy Awards, 32 Emmy Awards, and 20 Academy Awards (51 gold, 21 silver, and 23 bronze).
