ABOUT PALO ALTO UNIVERSITY
The Department of Psychology can be found at Palo Alto University (PAU), a non-public institution located in Palo Alto, California. In 1975, it initially opened its doors under the name Pacific Graduate School of Psychology. Palo Alto University offers four graduate programmes, including a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology, a Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology as part of a consortium with Stanford University, and two master's degree programmes, an M.A. in Counseling and an M.S. in Psychology. The university also offers two undergraduate degree programmes: a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and Social Action or a Bachelor of Science in Business Psychology. Palo Alto University is affiliated with Stanford University. The Practitioner-Scientist Training Model is a variation of the Scientist-Practitioner Model developed in Boulder, Colorado. This model places an emphasis on clinical practise in addition to scientific training. PAU is a subscriber to this model. The relationship between PAU and Stanford University, as well as the Stanford University School of Medicine, is one that is interconnected. PAU collaborates with Stanford University to run its doctoral programme, places its students frequently in research labs at Stanford, and employs faculty members who teach at both PAU and Stanford. PAU also houses faculty members who teach at both institutions. The chair of the Department of Psychiatry at Stanford University is a member of the board of trustees at Pacific American University.
