ABOUT UNIVERSITY OF NORTH CAROLINA AT CHAPEL HILL

In the city of Chapel Hill, North Carolina, you'll find the public research university known as the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is widely recognised as a Public Ivy, which refers to a public institution that provides students with an educational experience that is comparable to that provided by an Ivy League university. The institution was originally able to accept students in 1795, making it one of the oldest public universities in the United States. The university was chartered in 1789, and the first students were accepted in 1795. The Institution of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is the only one of the claimants to have operated as a public university and granted degrees to students in the eighteenth century. This accomplishment distinguishes it from the other contenders.
