ABOUT STATE UNIVERSITY OF NEW YORK - BUFFALO

The State Institution of New York at Buffalo, also known as the University at Buffalo (UB) or SUNY-Buffalo, is a public research university in the United States with campuses in Buffalo and Amherst. The college was established as a private medical school in 1846, and it joined the State University of New York system in 1962. It is a flagship institution of the SUNY system, along with Stony Brook. The university will have 32,347 students enrolled in its 13 schools and colleges as of fall 2020, making it the biggest public institution in New York. The university has grown from a modest medical school to a sizable research university since it was founded by a group that included future US President Millard Fillmore. The university now houses the largest state-operated medical school, dental school, education school, business school, engineering school, pharmacy school, and the only law school in SUNY in addition to the College of Arts and Sciences. Among the colleges in the SUNY system, UB boasts the highest enrollment, endowment, and research money. In addition to approximately 220 master's programmes, over 95 doctorate programmes, and 55 combined degree programmes, the institution grants bachelor's degrees in more than 140 different subject areas. The only universities started by US presidents are the University at Buffalo and the University of Virginia. Among "R1: Doctoral Universities - Very High Research Activity" is the University of Buffalo. UB was chosen in 1989 to join the Association of American Universities, an elite association of significant North American research universities. Five Nobel laureates, five Pulitzer Prize winners, one head of state, two astronauts, three billionaires, one Academy Award winner, one Emmy Award winner, and Fulbright Scholars are among the alumni and faculty at UB. The Bulls are the name of the University of Buffalo's collegiate athletic teams. They are participants in the NCAA's Division I league and belong to the Mid-American Conference.
