ABOUT ARIZONA STATE UNIVERSITY - TEMPE
Public research university Arizona State University, also known as Arizona State or ASU, is located in the Phoenix urban area. The 13th Arizona Territorial Legislature established ASU, one of the country's biggest public institutions, in 1885. ASU, one of three institutions under the control of the Arizona Board of Regents, is an R1: Doctoral Universities - Very High Research Activity institution and a member of the Universities Research Association. Across its five campuses and four regional learning centres in Arizona, ASU has almost 150,000[4] students enrolled, including more than 38,000 online learners, 90,000 undergraduates, and nearly 20,000 postgraduates. ASU provides 350 degree options from its 17 colleges, more than 170 cross-discipline centres and institutes, and more than 400 graduate degree and certificate programmes for undergraduate students. In the NCAA Division I Pac-12 Conference, the Arizona State Sun Devils compete in 26 varsity-level sports and are home to more than 1,100 officially recognised student groups. ASU reported that as of January 2022, its faculty of more than 4,700 scholars included 5 Nobel laureates, 6 MacArthur Fellows, 10 Pulitzer Prize winners, 9 members of the National Academy of Engineering, 23 members of the National Academy of Sciences, 26 members of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, 40 Guggenheim fellows, 151 fellows of the National Endowment for the Humanities, and 279 American scholars participating in the Fulbright Program.
