Cornell University, which may be found in Ithaca, New York, is a private Ivy League institution as well as a statutory land-grant research university. Cornell University was established in 1865 by Ezra Cornell and Andrew Dickson White with the intention of teaching and making contributions in all fields of knowledge, ranging from the classics to the sciences, and from the theoretical to the applied. The university was named after its founders, Cornell and White. These goals, which were unorthodox for the time, are encapsulated in the founding concept of Cornell University, which is a classic remark from founder Ezra Cornell from the year 1868: "I would build an institution where any individual can get instruction in any study." At its main campus in Ithaca, the university is structured into seven undergraduate colleges and seven graduate divisions. Each college and graduate division is responsible for setting its own unique entrance requirements and academic programmes in a nearly autonomous manner. Additionally, the institution oversees the administration of three satellite campuses, two of which are located in the city of New York, and one of which is located in Education City, Qatar.
