ABOUT LONG ISLAND UNIVERSITY - CW POST
Privately owned and operated in Brookville, New York, LIU Post (officially known as the C.W. Post Campus of Long Island University and commonly referred to simply as C.W. Post) is a branch of Long Island University. It is the largest campus in the Long Island University system, which is a private university. Charles William Post, the inventor of breakfast cereal, was the father of Marjorie Merriweather Post, who sold the property (which had been her Long Island estate known as Hillwood) to LIU in 1951 for the price of $200,000 (which is equivalent to $2,087,949 today). The campus was named after Charles William Post. C.W. Post College was rechristened by LIU in honour of Post's father three years after the institution's acquisition of the property.
