ABOUT FLORIDA GULF COAST UNIVERSITY
In the city of Fort Myers, Florida, there is a public institution known as Florida Gulf Coast University (FGCU). It is the second youngest institution that is a component of the State University System of Florida, of which it is a part. The institution was established on May 3, 1991, and it is recognised by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) to grant a total of 58 different types of bachelor's degrees, 25 different types of master's degrees, six doctoral degrees, and twelve graduate certificates. The Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology has given its stamp of approval to every single one of the university's undergraduate engineering degree programmes (ABET). Academics at the university are organised into six primary colleges: the U.A. Whitaker College of Engineering, the Lutgert College of Business, the Marieb College of Health & Human Services, the College of Education, and the College of Arts and Sciences. The Honors College is also a part of the university. The Bower School of Music & the Arts, The Emergent Technologies Institute (ETI), School of Nursing, School of Resort & Hospitality Management, and School of Entrepreneurship are some of the most prestigious institutions and departments housed inside the colleges. The Eagles, FGCU's athletic teams for college competition, are members of the ASUN Conference and compete in NCAA Division I sports.
