Master of Occupational Therapy

A private institution, Maryville University of St. Louis can be found in the city of Town and Country in the state of Missouri. Students come from all 50 states as well as 47 different countries to attend this institution, which was established on April 6, 1872 by the Society of the Sacred Heart and now confers more than 90 degrees at the undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral levels. When the school began in 1872 as an all-school women's in the country outside of the order's original base in downtown St. Louis, the name of the school was obtained from the shortening and alteration of "Mary's Villa." The name of the school is now known as "Mary's" (an area that today is within the boundaries of the city of St. Louis). After relocating to a suburb of St. Louis in 1961, it did not begin accepting male students until 1968. Although five of the trustees are always linked with the Society of the Sacred Heart, since 1972 the university has been controlled by a board of trustees that is predominantly made up of members of the general public who are not members of any religious order. The name of the school's athletic teams has been changed to the Saints.
