ABOUT THUNDERBIRD SCHOOL OF GLOBAL MANAGEMENT
Phoenix, Arizona is home to the Thunderbird School of Global Management at Arizona State University, also known as Thunderbird. It was a privately owned, independent university founded in 1946 that was bought by Arizona State University (ASU) in 2014. Thunderbird Field No. 1, a deactivated US Army Air Forces base from World War II that served as the school's campus for more than 70 years, is where the name of the institution comes from. (The name makes reference to both the phoenix that the city is named for as well as the thunderbird from Native American mythology.) In 2018, the school relocated to ASU's Downtown Phoenix campus; in 2021, it will move to a new, US$75 million structure.
