ABOUT LAKEHEAD UNIVERSITY
Located in Thunder Bay and Orillia, Ontario, Lakehead Institution is a public research university. Lakehead University, sometimes known as "Lakehead U" or "LU," is a nondenominational institution that receives funding from the province. It houses the western campus of the Northern Ontario School of Medicine as well as undergraduate and graduate programmes, the Bora Laskin Faculty of Law, the first internationally certified (AACSB) business school in northern Ontario, and the Northern Ontario School of Medicine. Lakehead has more than 45,000 alumni. There are roughly 7,900 students enrolled in Thunder Bay's main campus. A new permanent extension campus in Orillia, roughly 150 kilometres (93 km) north of Toronto, had about 1,400 students as of September 2006.
