The nonprofit American medical research centre Scripps Research, formerly The Scripps Research Institute (TSRI), focuses on research and instruction in the biomedical sciences. The institute, with its headquarters in San Diego, California, is one of the largest private, non-profit biomedical research organisations in the world, with over 170 laboratories and 2,100 employees who work as scientists, technicians, graduate students, administrative, and other staff. The institute has more than 1,100 patents, 11 treatments with FDA approval, and more than 50 spin-off businesses. Scripps Research is the world's most influential research institution, according to the 2017 Nature Innovation Index. In the biological sciences, organic chemistry, and biochemistry, the Scripps Research graduate programme is ranked 9th nationally. Their Jupiter, Florida campus joined the University of Florida in 2022. Graduate students who live in Jupiter are still enrolled in the Scripps Research graduate programme.
