ABOUT MANHATTANVILLE COLLEGE
Manhattanville College is a private college in Purchase, New York that offers undergraduate and graduate degrees. It was first known as Academy of the Sacred Heart, then as Manhattanville College of the Sacred Heart in 1847. It was founded in 1841 at 412 Houston Street in downtown Manhattan. The Regents of the State of New York granted the academy a charter in 1917, elevating it to a collegiate level and conferring degrees as the College of the Sacred Heart. In 1952, the school relocated to its current location in Purchase, New York, a suburb north of New York City. The property is located in Westchester County, in the town and village of Harrison. Manhattanville has over 1,100 undergraduate and 900 graduate students from more than 45 nations and 35 states in the United States.
