ABOUT CULINARY INSTITUTE OF AMERICA
The Culinary Institute of America (CIA) is a private culinary school that has campuses in St. Helena and Napa, California; San Antonio, Texas; and Singapore. Its main campus is located in Hyde Park, New York. This college, which was the first in the United States to teach culinary arts, now provides associate's, bachelor's, and master's degrees. It also has the largest faculty of American Culinary Federation Certified Master Chefs of any college or university in the country. In addition, the CIA provides professionals working in the hospitality sector with opportunities for continuing education as well as seminars and consulting services. In addition, the college provides non-professionals the opportunities to participate in leisure classes. On each of their four campuses in the United States, the college has restaurants that are owned by the students. As a vocational institute for returning veterans of World War II, the school was established in 1946 in the city of New Haven, Connecticut, in the United States. Because of the increasing number of students, the institution decided in 1970 to purchase a former Jesuit novitiate in Hyde Park, which serves as the main campus to this day. In 1971, the institution first started conferring associate degrees; in 1993, it started conferring bachelor's degrees; and in 2018, it started conferring master's degrees. Additional campuses were established in the years 1995 in St. Helena, Texas, 2008 in Texas, 2010 in Singapore, and 2016 in Napa.
