ABOUT NEW YORK FILM ACADEMY
A private film school and acting school, New York Film Academy – School of Film and Acting (NYFA) has campuses in New York City, Los Angeles, and Miami. NYFA also offers programmes in filmmaking and acting. Jerry Sherlock, who had previous producing experience in film, television, and theatre, established the New York Film Academy in the year 1992. It had its beginnings at the Tribeca Film Center when it first opened. In 1994, NYFA relocated to the 100 East 17th Street location, which was formerly occupied by Tammany Hall and is located in the Union Square neighbourhood. The academy relocated from Tammany Hall to 17 Battery Place after occupying the previous location for a total of 23 years. The institution employs more than 400 people and has more than 5,000 students enrolled on an annual basis as of the year 2012. (many of them from outside the United States). In addition to its associate, bachelor's, and master's degree programmes, the New York Film Academy also provides students with one- and two-year conservatory programmes, short-term workshops, youth programmes, and summer camps.
