The American InterContinental Institution (also known as AIU) is a private university that is operated for profit and has its main campus located in Schaumburg, Illinois. It is owned by the Perdoceo Education Corporation and utilises open admissions for enrollment. The Higher Learning Commission has granted AIU accreditation, which allows the university to confer associate's, bachelor's, and master's degrees. AIU receives around 96 percent of all funds from the United States government, with approximately 29 million dollars coming from money provided by the G.I. Bill. It is being sued for allegedly cheating the federal government by accepting federal cash while also offering education that is below acceptable levels.
