ABOUT CALIFORNIA STATE UNIVERSITY SACRAMENTO
California State University, Sacramento is a public university that is located in Sacramento, California. It is also known as Sacramento State University or, more colloquially, Sac State. It was initially established in 1947 as Sacramento State College, making it the eleventh oldest school in the California State University system, which currently consists of 23 campuses. The university has a strong alumni network of more than 250,000 people and confers 9,000 degrees each year. Annual enrollment at the university is approximately 31,500 students. There are 151 unique bachelor's degrees, 69 master's degrees, 28 different types of teaching credentials, and 5 doctoral degrees available to students at this university. There are more than 3,500 trees spread across the campus, including more than 1,200 that are located in the University Arboretum. The total land area of the campus is 305 acres (123 ha). The Julia Morgan House and the Pony Express terminus are both located on the grounds of the university, both of which are listed on the National Register of Historic Places. In 2012, the Arbor Day Foundation presented the university with an official designation as "Tree Campus USA." It is possible for Sacramento State University to be designated as an Asian American Native American Pacific Islander serving institution in addition to its current status as a Hispanic-serving institution (HSI) (AANAPISI).
