Kerala Schools Introduce Bagless Days: A New Approach to Education
Students In Kerala Schools May Soon Have Bagless Days Every Month
In a revolutionary step to ease the pressure on students and enhance their overall growth, the Education Department of Kerala is contemplating the introduction of "bagless days" in schools on a monthly basis. This effort, designed to lessen the physical strain and encourage innovative learning, will enable students to participate in a variety of after-school activities, practical classes, and interactive projects without the need for heavy backpacks. Education Minister V. Sivankutty mentioned, "Our main goal is to move away from memorization to hands-on learning experiences. Bagless days will motivate students to pursue their passions and enhance their analytical abilities." This idea, drawing inspiration from the National Education Policy 2020, has garnered favorable responses from both teachers and parents. Schools will create unique lesson plans for these days, including art, sports, environmental studies, and vocational skills, to provide a comprehensive educational journey. The policy is anticipated to be tested in a few schools before being rolled out across the state.
