PhD Graduates Gain Three-Year UK Work Period Under Continued GRV
The UK government's decision to maintain the Graduate Route Scheme (GRV) has been welcomed by Indian students pursuing higher education in the country. The UK Migration Advisory Committee (MAC) reviewed the GRV and proposed its continuation in its current form. The GRV allows students to stay in the UK for at least two years after completing their bachelor's, postgraduate, or other eligible course. The Graduate visa lasts for two years, while PhD or other doctoral candidates have three years. The decision will allow new graduates to find valuable career opportunities, such as working for multinationals, small companies, the NHS, or startups. The UK Migration Advisory's review favored international students, recognizing their vital role in driving economic growth. However, the decline of international students could financially impact UK universities, as they rely heavily on training expenses from global students.
