Students With 4-year Bachelor's Degrees, 75% Marks Can Directly Pursue PhD: UGC
Here comes a significant change in the academic landscape. Now students with 4-year Bachelor's Degrees can directly Pursue a PhD, without enrolling in a master's program. This New policy is introduced by the University Grants Commission (UGC), Chairman Jagadesh Kumar.
⦁ Marks Requirement: In their 4th year of graduation students need to have at least 75% marks or equivalent grades in the same.
⦁ National Eligibility Test: Candidates must have a minimum of 55% marks in a master's degree for the National Eligibility test (NET).
Such candidates are allowed to pursue PhD directly, who have passed their 4th year of bachelor's or the 8th semester overall. A leeway of five percent marks will be given to those belonging to SC, ST, OBC, differently abled, and other economically weaker sections of the society.
