WORLD HEALTH DAY: NMC Introduces 'My Health, My Rights' Program for Medical Students
In a bid to enhance the well-being of medical students both physically and mentally, the National Medical Commission (NMC) and the National Task Force on Mental Health and Well-being of Medical Students (NTF) have unveiled the ‘My Health, My Right’ initiative on the occasion of World Health Day 2024.
A pivotal meeting of the National Task Force on Mental Health, convened by the NMC, saw participation from representatives of various medical colleges, INIs, and the Ministry of Education on April 5.
The initiative aims to introduce comprehensive wellness programs that emphasize physical health and achieving a balanced work-life equilibrium. These programs include yoga, mindfulness meditation, and stress management workshops, among other activities.
Experts note that the demanding nature of the medical profession, characterized by intense training and long hours, often adversely affects the physical, mental, and emotional well-being of both doctors and medical students. The ‘My Health, My Right’ initiative is designed to address these challenges and promote better health outcomes.
