Over Half! 812 Students with Grace Marks Retook NEET-UG
52% of 1,563 who got grace marks appeared in the NEET-UG re-exam
Only about half of the students who received bonus marks in the NEET-UG entrance exam decided to take the test again, as revealed by the National Testing Agency (NTA) on Sunday.
A total of 1,563 students were granted additional time to finish the NEET-UG exam that took place on May 5th, due to delays at certain test locations. However, the NTA subsequently decided to revoke these bonus marks, causing a stir and difficulties. The agency then presented these affected students with the option to take the test again or keep their initial scores, without the bonus marks. On Sunday, the retake exams were conducted at seven locations throughout India. Only 813 students, or 52% of those who were eligible, decided to take the test again. This situation has raised doubts about the fairness of the initial decision to grant bonus marks and the process of conducting the retake exams.
Some students who decided not to take the retake exam were worried about the sudden change and the pressure of preparing for another test quickly. Meanwhile, those who chose to take the test again were doing so carefully, uncertain about how it would affect their final scores.
The NEET-UG exam is a crucial test for admission into medical schools in India. Any alterations to the test procedure can greatly affect the future of aspiring medical professionals. The recent debate over the bonus marks and the retake exams has underscored the importance of clear and open communication from the NTA in the future.
