NTA Announces NEET 2024 Results: 67 Candidates Share Top Rank
The National Testing Agency (NTA) announced the NEET 2024 results on June 4, 2024, with candidates able to access their scores on the official NTA NEET website. Alongside the results, the NTA released the names of the all-India toppers and the category-wise cut-off marks and percentile ranks. A total of 67 candidates, predominantly from Rajasthan, achieved the top rank in the medical entrance exam NEET-UG, including 14 girls. The exam, conducted on May 5, saw 56.4% of candidates qualify, with the merit list prepared using a tie-breaking formula prioritizing higher marks in Biology, followed by Chemistry and Physics.
A record 24.06 lakh candidates registered for NEET this year, with 13,16,268 qualifying for admission to MBBS and other medical courses. Of these, 5,47,036 are male, 7,69,222 are female, and 10 are transgender persons. The examination was held in 13 languages across numerous centers in India and abroad. The passing percentage is similar to last year at 56.2%. The NTA noted an increase in qualifying marks this year, with the unreserved category’s range rising from 720-137 to 720-164. The results are based on criteria set by the National Medical Commission and the Dental Council of India, and the NTA has conducted a post-exam analysis to detect and address cases of unfair means.
