Liverpool and Al Dhaid establish College of Veterinary Medicine
The opening of a new College of Veterinary Medicine in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates has been announced by the Universities of Liverpool and Al Dhaid. Through the combination of Al Dhaids cutting-edge facilities and Liverpool's renowned curriculum this partnership seeks to award a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree. The formal agreement was signed on December 18 2024 by Professor Tim Jones, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Liverpool and His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi Ruler of Sharjah and a member of the Supreme Council. Liverpool's School of Veterinary Science which has a 120-year history of distinction will be reflected in the curriculum. Teaching hospitals for a variety of domestic and agricultural species anatomy and pathology labs and other facilities are currently under construction. The UAE Commission for Academic Accreditation Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research has accredited a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine program with the first intake of students expected to begin in September 2025. The two universities' dedication to furthering veterinary education and research in order to satisfy the region's increasing need for qualified veterinary professionals is demonstrated by this collaboration.
