Int’l schools convene on global challenges

The 42nd annual COBIS conference, held in London from May 11 to 13, brought together leaders from international schools worldwide to delve into critical issues such as well-being, leadership, sustainability, and education redesign. The "Louder than words" theme encouraged participants to translate discussions into concrete actions.
The conference witnessed active participation from newcomers and featured renowned speakers like Margaret Garrard, COBIS CCO, and Sally Uren from the Forum for the Future. Their insights, along with the lively discussions among the delegates, underscored the role of educators in shaping a sustainable future.
Personal and professional challenges, including work-life balance and the impact of the pandemic, were key topics of discussion. The region, particularly Vietnam, saw a significant increase in new school openings, reflecting the sector's growth and resilience.
The central themes were diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice (DEIJ). DSB International School in Mumbai shared its journey towards DEIJ integration and urged educators to move beyond superficial actions to embed these principles in their schools.
The COBIS conference served as a vital platform for international school leaders to exchange ideas, address challenges, and commit to advancing education in meaningful ways.
