France Sets Ambitious Goal to Attract 30,000 Indian Students
Why France is the Top Choice for Indian Students in 2024
France Sets Ambitious Goal to Attract 30,000 Indian Students
France is making a concerted effort to attract Indian students to its universities. Ambassador Thierry Mathou outlined an ambitious goal of hosting 30,000 Indian students in the coming year. To achieve this, France will be holding an education fair in mid-October specifically designed to showcase opportunities for Indian students. The fair will likely highlight the availability of courses taught in English, an attractive feature for many Indian students, and the five-year Schengen circulation visa offered to Indian alumni, allowing for greater travel freedom within Europe.
Beyond education, France is also eager to strengthen economic ties with India. Ambassador Mathou acknowledged that France currently ranks only as India's fourth-largest trade partner in Asia, and they are committed to climbing that ladder. This economic focus is evident in the substantial investments French companies have made in India. Sectors like fashion and luxury, food and agriculture production, and aeronautics have all seen significant French involvement. France positions itself as a key player in India's "Make in India" initiative, with French companies holding the distinction of being the largest European employer in India, creating roughly 500,000 jobs and boasting over a thousand operational industrial factories across the country. The recent opening of a high-level research and innovation center by Airbus in 2023 further exemplifies France's commitment to fostering technological advancement within India.
