Imperial strengthens ties with the University of Ghana

Imperial College London and the University of Ghana have announced a major five-year collaboration to enhance their current joint efforts in research and education. This strategic agreement is built on a solid base - over the past five years, the two institutions have jointly authored more than 120 scholarly articles, establishing the University of Ghana as Imperial's premier partner in research contributions.

Key areas with significant potential impact:

  • Developing cutting-edge technologies for quicker and more precise detection of diseases.
  • Promoting and supporting the establishment and expansion of meaningful enterprises.
  • Tackling major public health challenges in Africa and worldwide.
  • Seeking solutions to urgent environmental problems.
  • Enhancing the capacity for vaccine creation and distribution in Africa.

Professor Felix Ankomah Asante, the Pro Vice-Chancellor in charge of Research, Innovation, and Development (RID) at the University of Ghana, shared his excitement about the collaboration: "The University of Ghana is thrilled to work with Imperial across various fields in research, education, and innovation."
This initiative is in line with Imperial's expanding focus on Africa and its dedication to collaborating with leading universities in the area. The partnership is anticipated to boost opportunities for students and faculty to move between the two institutions, leading to a more vibrant academic exchange and the nurturing of future global leaders.
