Georgia Revives Test Requirements for 2026-27 at Four Universities

The pandemic led to hundreds of institutions waiving their admissions test requirements, but colleges are now considering reviving testing requirements. Georgia regents have discussed reviving testing requirements multiple times, with the university system reinstated requirements for fall 2022 admissions. However, applications fell due to students not completing test scores. The board voted to return to test-optional at all but the University of Georgia and Georgia Tech through the 2024-25 year. Georgia College & State University resumed requiring an SAT or ACT for admission in fall 2024. The board issued another extension last month, waiving the requirement for all but those three universities through the 2025-26 academic year. Augusta, Georgia State, Georgia Southern, and Kennesaw State will revive SAT and ACT requirements for applicants seeking admission in fall 2026. The board also voted to allow the remaining 19 institutions the option to require test scores.
