Food aid charity sees surge in demand from international students
Langar Aid, a project by Khalsa Aid International, has been providing food support to the homeless and financially struggling since 2015. They have noticed increased demand from international students, particularly in Coventry and Birmingham. The charity runs a hot soup kitchen six days a week, offering vegetarian meals to anyone in need, with no registration required. Due to increased requests, they have introduced an International Student Support Program, providing food packs to recently arrived students, and have expanded their services to Birmingham, Wolverhampton, Walsall, and Luton. The charity works with 66 organizations, including universities, to support needy students. They have expressed concerns about international students being underprepared financially for the UK's cost of living and have called for increased guidance from universities.
