Concordia Ann Arbor Cuts Most Programs Due to Major Deficit
Concordia University Ann Arbor to Slash Programs Amid $9 Million Deficit
Facing a $9 million deficit, Concordia University Ann Arbor will retain only nine in-person and seven online programs. The financial strain comes over a decade after its acquisition by Concordia University Wisconsin in 2013. Despite enrollment growth, the Ann Arbor campus struggles with sustainability. The board, after consulting with experts, found that the campus cannot operate autonomously due to governance and financial challenges. Starting after the 2024-25 academic year, Concordia will streamline its offerings in response to broader higher education challenges. Teach-out partnerships will be established for students opting to complete their programs elsewhere.
