Chhattisgarh’s language initiative to boost school enrolment
Chhattisgarh has launched a variety of programs to enhance the number of students attending school and staying in them, especially in areas impacted by left-wing extremism. A significant project is the creation of Pota Cabins, which are temporary schools built using prefabricated materials such as bamboo and plywood. These schools offer a secure place to learn, necessary facilities, and job skills training for kids from distant and affected regions.
In tribal areas of Chhattisgarh, local dialects such as Chhattisgarhi, Sargujia, Halbi, etc. will be part of the primary school curriculum.
This effort is designed to close the language barrier that tribal students encounter in schools, which is expected to increase the number of students and lower the rate of students leaving school.
The state has previously utilized learning materials in two languages, with illustrated books available in libraries.
