What’s Driving the 30% Growth in International Students in Canada
Canadian colleges saw 30% int’l student growth in 2022/23, data reveals
During the 2022/23 school year, Canadian educational institutions experienced a notable rise in the number of international students, with a significant 30% jump from the year before. This increase was mainly due to a higher number of students from India, who made up over 31% of the international student body in Canadian colleges.
The total number of international students across all colleges and universities in Canada rose by 16%, bringing the total to 2.2 million students in higher education. Although university admissions saw a slight increase of 7%, it was the significant rise in college admissions, especially among international students, that was key in boosting the overall student numbers. This development underscores Canada's growing appeal as a place for international students to study. Elements such as an inviting immigration policy, a rich cultural environment, and a high standard of education are probably playing a part in this increase in interest.
