Can 7/11 train blasts convict take law exams online: Court to Mumbai University
The Bombay High Court has queried Mumbai University regarding the potential for Mohammed Sajid Ansari, a convict in the 7/11 serial train blasts case, to participate in his law exams remotely. This inquiry arose due to security apprehensions surrounding his physical presence at the exam center. Previously, the court had granted permission for Ansari to sit for the exam in person on May 9; however, he did not attend.
Following this, a division bench comprising Justices Makarand Karnik and Kamal Khata on May 10 directed advocate Rui Rodrigues to ascertain from Mumbai University whether, in light of security concerns, an online examination option might be warranted for Ansari.
"We urge the competent authorities of Mumbai University to thoroughly explore this possibility and, after consulting with all relevant stakeholders, including the ATS, provide their stance on the matter," stated the court.
