Ara signs MOU with Chennai’s Easwari Engineering college

• With a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) the Ara Institute of Canterbury in New Zealand and Chennais Easwari Engineering College have formally established a partnership aimed at cooperative program development, international study opportunities and cooperative research projects. 

• The importance of the partnership was underlined by Deanna Anderson Director of International at Ara who stated: Easwari Engineering College is not only a top-tier provider in the area with over 20 undergraduate and graduate programs but it has also been affiliated with the esteemed Anna University in Chennai for more than 20 years. 

• A delegation from Easwari Engineering College led by Chairman R. Shivakumar and Trustee Sai Kishore visited Aras Te Puna Wānaka whare and signed the Memorandum of Understanding. The delegation was greeted with musical performances and a whakatau, a traditional Māori ceremony. 

• As we discuss collaboration between our institutions let us remember that it is not just infrastructure technology or systems that drive success Shivakumar emphasized the crucial role that people play in achieving success in his speech. Our students, teachers and leaders are the ones who drive innovation, inspire change and leave a lasting impression. 

• Robert de Roo Aras Head of Engineering and Architecture and Adam Khan Manager of Architectural Studies and Interior Design gave speeches to further commemorate the five-year agreement. As a sign of cultural exchange the Easwari delegation also visited Aras facilities and displayed a Tanjore painting, a traditional South Indian art form. 

• This collaboration broadens Aras global reach by establishing connections with a sizable network of institutions in southern India. According to both institutions the partnership will result in improved educational opportunities and a more widespread influence in their respective areas.
