My grandfather is a doctorate in Sanskrit language. All my life I have seen him teach Sanskrit. He also interpreted the Bhagavad Gita (a Hindu religious book). This background urged me to choose Sanskrit as the third language in school. Sanskrit is the oldest language in India and has historical importance. However, it has lost its glory in recent years. All the mythological, religious, and spiritual books are written in Sanskrit. It is heart-breaking to know that the language is no more even understood by the next generations.
My grandfather asked me if we can make Sanskrit more accessible to people who are willing to associate with it in some way or the other. We both wanted the language to survive. As I know how to create a website I shared an idea with him.
Soon, we decided to create a website to help people interested in the Sanskrit language, collaborate and work together. For this purpose, he also approached the Central Sanskrit University (Rashtriya Sanskrit Sansthan) to finance our project and support the effort to preserve the Sanskrit literature.Ever since we began working on this project, I was fascinated by the idea and could not wait to see the response from Sanskrit scholars from all over the world. We were excited to know how it will be pursued by the target audience. I worked day and night to make this website creative, social, and informative. Finally, the website was active; and in a few days the idea turned out to be a huge success and it served our purpose.
Today, the website is an interactive platform that brings under one roof people from different countries engaged and willing to learn, teach, read, Sanskrit, or exchange knowledge, and information about the language. There are discussion forums, for different questions and queries regarding language usage. My grandfather finds it convenient to work through this website and conduct lectures. He is delighted to know that so many people have reached out to him.
Whenever I face any technical or designing-related issues, I consult the trainer who taught me website designing. He guides me perfectly to make it more user-friendly. Over a span of 3 years, it has gained popularity. This website project was an enthralling experience and will always remain close to my heart.
